My Fitness Journey
My name is Lydia Jensen I am a wife and a mom of three boys. I have taught in the classroom for over 10 years as a substitute teacher and a year as a middle school teacher. I received my master’s degree in education in 2019. As much as I adored my students and educating young people I got burnt out. In the meantime, while my love for teaching had decreased my passion for fitness grew. So instead of becoming a credentialed teacher I became a certified personal trainer.
After my third son turned two years old, I decided to do something about my weight. I had gotten up to 200 pounds while pregnant. I would only get down and stay at a consistent weight of 175 to 180 pounds. I would lose a little but then gain a little.
It was a constant struggle. Until one day I had an epiphany a turning point. What if I kept going? What if I never gave up? So, I kept going. Each day I would get better, each day I would eat better, each day I would grow stronger, and each day was not easy, but I never gave up.
I was determined to continue and to keep going. I started to walk with my baby in the stroller with a neighbor, we than began to do at home workouts to Jillian Michaels (Biggest loser), to me joining a Brittne Babe 21 Day Challenge (an Instagram Fitness Influencer) , and finally feeling comfortable enough to join a gym.
Once I started to gain some momentum I was on a roll. I then began to start challenging myself even more so. I hired a trainer and he inspired me so much that I knew I wanted to do more.. Not just for me but helping others to get in shape and take back control of their health as well.
As a personal trainer/coach I am still studying and growing in my craft. However I am enjoying learning from my clients as well as teaching my clients and classes about nutrition and how important it is to build muscle and strength. I created Pretty Fitty Zone LLC to help encourage and give people a place to come and feel welcomed, no judgement, and build their confidence levels back up. It’s not easy but it’s worth it. That extra rep, that extra healthy meal, that extra water you drink each day, gives us all an extra day to live and a chance at a happier and healthier life.
My enthusiasm for fitness has grown over the years as an adult. I was never an athlete in school, hated to run, and never cared for sports. Now that I am in my forties I am rediscovering so much more about myself and my true potential physically. I enjoy the challenges and growth that has flourished since my journey first began in 2015.
If I can do it, so can you!
